All my income is from foreign sources. If I choose to take foreign tax credit only, do I enter Foreign income in 1040 line 7 or just fill form 1116 & enter income there?

Additional details - I am employed outside US and I plan to avail Foreign Tax Credit instead of Earned income exclusion. Similar questions have been asked but I am not clear if foreign income is to be reported on 1040 if taking FTC. In turbotax the foreign income questionnaire is linked to Foreign earned income exclusion questionnaire and hence am confused.

I believe that Form 1116 is not to report your foreign income, but to secure tax credit you paid in a foreign country. So you have to report your foreign income some in some appropriate income category first. Then you can report your tax you paid in foreign country for income tax credit.
