I'm trying to deduct the 3rd stimulus check money because we never received either check we were due. Because Turbo Tax asks if the $2800 matches the figure on our IRS 6475 letters, I check-marked "yes." However, the program automatically makes it so that I can't claim the $2800 to add to my return. How can I fix this? Do I have to submit separate forms to the IRS, rather than try to fix my return? Or can the makers of Turbo Tax add this situation to the alternatives? What should I do in either case?

If you did not receive the $2,800 stimulus payment way did you answer Yes when asked if you received the payment?
Did you or did you not receive the 3rd stimulus in the March - May 2021 timeframe? Check your bank account for those months.
Because the program only asks if that was the figure on the letter we received. It doesn't ask if we actually received it. If I should have checked "no," it wasn't clear. (Now, even if I change it, it doesn't change the file!) Our payments were to come by mail because the first payment and second payments were delivered that way. The IRS didn't have our bank account information from our 2019 return because we owed money.
