**For tax purposes, the age of your dependents is their age as of Dec. 31. For tax year 2020, the Child Tax Credit is $2000 per child under the age of 17. The child has to be 16 or less as of Dec 31, 2020 to qualify. If they turned 17 during 2020, they won't qualify you for the Child Tax Credit. Children that were 17 and older as of 12/31/2020 will qualify you to receive the $500 Credit for Other Dependents.
