A blank box 15 state employer ID on your W-2 should not cause a problem with your return processing at the IRS or the state revenue office. If there are no entries in 17, you may leave the entire box 15 and 16 blank, as well. If you do have entries in box 17, please see the work around below.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! You type in your pin that you could to clock in but also the store ID first. So for example 554 is the store ID and 1234 is your pin. So for box 15 put “5541234”
Where did you get the pin ?
You do not need a PIN. If the employer did not enter a state ID number, use the same number as the federal ID in box a without the dash. This will allow you to proceed to file.
you "experts" keep saying this, and yet your program does NOT ALLOW YOU TO PROGRESS WITHOUT IT.
expert or not, you all sound pretty foolish when you spout the same crap that doesnt even work.

You have posted onto a thread that is over a year old and has different issues entered.
What problem are you having?
the exact same problem happens every year. Kroger does not have anything in boxes 15-17, turbotax does not allow you to file unless something is entered. period.

What state is the Kroger in where you worked?
i get the feeling you are trying to run me in circles like turbotax does with this issue. im going over to google and scouring YEARS of repeated issues with this that intuit refuses to correct.
my state is washington, but this affects all states.

Cannot answer your question without you giving us information.
Washington does not have a personal income tax so you should not enter anything in boxes 15, 16 and 17.
TurboTax will accept this since 9 states do not have personal income taxes.
If you still receive errors then delete the W-2 and re-enter manually.
We have 100's of thousand of W-2's which do have boxes 15, 16 and 17 blank and are all e-filed.
your answer to "just redo it LOL" is both insulting and of no help.
even with manual entry, turbotax DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUE WITHOUT IT.

IRS Free File program - https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/browse-all-offers/
"use a program that works instead of turbotax" best advice ive seen all day
