Where do I enter "Hawaii Income Tax Withheld" in Federal tax form?

I sold my rental property in Hawaii in 2017.  State of Hawaii withheld Hawaii Income Tax that I paid in Box 8 on Form N-288A, "Hawaii Income Tax Withheld".

You can enter the Hawaii income tax withheld by using the information here.

The Hawaii (HI)  tax withholding (or federal ) can be entered in the following section of TurboTax so that it will flow to the HI state return.

While you are signed into your TurboTax account:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions &  Credits
  3. I'll choose what I work on
  4. Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  5. Other Income Taxes
  6. Scroll to Withholding not already entered on W2 or 1099 > Start
  7. Enter the state withholding here (and/or federal)
  8. Click the image attached to enlarge and view for assistance.

Where do I enter "Hawaii Income Tax Withheld" in Federal tax form?

Hi, I am having the same issue. I followed the instructions on the solution, but the amount I paid for HARPTA withholding is showing on the N-15 in the "form N-200V" space instead of the "N-288A" space when I go to print and review. Is there a way to have it be entered in the correct spot on the N-15 form?

What tax form was the withholding on?   The withholding has to be entered when you enter the form in TurboTax to get it on N-288A.   But if there is no place in TurboTax to enter the withholding when you entered the income, it gets subtracted by entering in 'estimates paid' and ends up on N-200V, which has the same net effect on your tax return >> they both are additional taxes paid on the Hawaii return.   @hawaiilarsons

Thanks @DawnC !

What tax form was the withholding on?

Hi, the withholding was from HARPTA for selling a property in Hawaii. I received a N-288A form and used the solution from @DianeW on this post. I entered the amount from the N-288A form and it did appear to work until I printed out the tax return. When I printed out the N-15 it ends up in the N-200V box instead of the N-288A box.

I just want it to be in the N-288A box when the tax return prints out because that's what it is... Is there no way for turbotax to move it into that box?
