Another 2 weeks have passed and I spent another hour talking with TTX Support only to find that IT-267 still isn't supported and there is no indication that it will be. I can't express how disappointing (and annoying) this is after spending $50 to buy TTX only to find out that I can't use it to file my NY state tax return. Looks like I will be checking out FreeTaxUSA and seriously questioning any future investments in TTX software.... :(
I don’t blame you! I used FreeTax USA and went from owing $1700 to NYS to getting a refund of $2600…$50 is a drop in the bucket when compared to the refund you’d be missing out of with TurboTax. I’m done with them. FreeTaxUSA was a dream…
Sheesh, how ridiculous! I've been using TurboTax for I don't know how many years now, but it looks like last year was the last time. It's not even a very complicated form as far as I can tell! I called weeks ago (and my gawd they have the most annoying robot call director I've ever encountered) and talked to a person (who was very nice and sympathetic) and they said that all they could tell me was it wasn't supported nor was it on the list of planned forms to support, and they'd record my name as yet another person who needed it.
I guess Intuit doesn't care.
(They also spent millions lobbying against tax simplification, apparently, so I guess I'm not all that unhappy that they're forcing me to stop using them!)
We wrote a letter to Sasan Goodarzi, CEO of Intuit, on March 8 regarding NYS Form IT-267. We received a reply email within the hour that read:
"Thank you for your email and I am sorry about your experience. I have copied the office of the president; an expert will be assigned to help you. I have also copied Varun, our TurboTax General Manager, he will have his team look into your specific situation."
After a few emails and phone calls, we received the following email from Dana McCormick, Office of the President, on March 9.
"I want to thank you for taking the time to speak with me. As we discussed, I will be your personal advocate while we address your concerns.
I did find a contact with the Product Team and asked about New York Form IT-267. I am sorry,I was hoping for a different answer but they stated that at this time none of our tax products support New York Form IT-267 and that includes ProSeries and Lacerte and well as all TurboTax products. They stated that less that 1% of New York taxpayers will need to file the form. At this time unless more people need the form they may have it in a release in the next few years. I have sent your feedback to the appropriate teams for consideration in future releases of the software. If you do not have any other questions I will move forward with closing your case with our office.
If you have any concerns regarding this matter please reply directly to this email and I can normally respond within 24 hours. You can reach me Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM Arizona time.
Thank you again for reaching out.
Respectfully,
Dana

We responded with a respectful letter expressing our disappointment on March 11. We have not had a reply since then.
This form will NOT be supported this year...and maybe never, according to Dana McCormick, Intuit Office of the President.
This pretty much says it all: "less that 1% of New York taxpayers will need to file the form..." And, therefore, Translation: TurboTax won't accommodate a very simple form because there is no incentive for them to help all potential customers, only most of them.
The fact that Intuit/TurboTax can't and won't male this happen because of their bottom line is at once disappointing and disgusting. I will never use them again...

Heh, yeah. A mere 100,000 or so people will need this form, so why bother?
Meanwhile, freetaxusa imported my last year's info just fine, had all the forms that I needed, and was significantly cheaper than Turbo Tax. So I have a new tax software provider, and maybe it was all for the best! 🙂
Just got this in my inbox! What a joke! 😂
I found this chat after figuring out the work around myself, pretending I had a solar credit so that the credit form would cause the IT-ATT to come up and then I overrode the code for solar and put in 267 for Geothermal. Eventually I had to print the return, create a manual NYS IT-267 form to replace the solar form so my return would be correct. I also spent 1 hour with support trying to explain it and find it in the program.
Yes, I agree with other comments about being disappoint that there was no info available in TurboTax to file this properly. It was exactly like the solar credit, just needed the correct form. The federal covered it, so not sure why your NYS didn't follow the federal. I am writing this 2 months after the other comments were made and its still not in there. I like using TurboTax, but this was very frustrating and disappointing.
