Will i still get a refund if my job has not taken federal out of my checks? I have tried 3 times for them to take it. Sept is when i asked for 40 out of each check.

I noticed in sept where i work was not taking federal out, they kept saying sonce trump he was not doing federal but everyone around me has been getting theres out. I have changed my W2 3 times different way and still get same result. Now when i do calculator it says i will not get refund this year.

You do not change a W-2.  You change the W-4 that you give your employer--that is the form that tells the employer how much to withhold from your paychecks for federal tax,  And if no federal tax has been withheld all year, you had better be more worried about whether you will OWE tax than whether you will receive a tax refund.

Are you a W-2 employee or are you an independent contractor?  Are they going to issue a W-2 to you in January or a 1099Misc?  ASK them.  It has nothing to do with President Trump.  The only thing he did was make it possible to defer having Social Security withheld from your paychecks a few months ago.  Nothing was done by Trump to affect the federal tax being withheld from your paychecks,  Either you did not fill out a W-4 correctly or you have some other misunderstanding.

You need to ask NOW if you will be getting a W-2 in January.  If you are being treated as an independent contractor, and nothing has been withheld from your paychecks, you  may OWE at tax time and had better start planning for it.  You have very little time to change this or to plan for it--tax year 2020 will be over in less than two months.

Income tax refunds come from having more tax than you owe the government withheld from your pay.  If nothing was withheld then there is nothing from which to issue a refund to you, unless you qualify for some of the child-related credits like earned income credit or child tax credit.

If you want the most taken from your paycheck ... on the W-4 ONLY click the SINGLE box and on line 4c enter an amount to be withheld on top of the chart amount ... like the $40 per pay period you requested already ... do NOT make any other entries other than your name, address, SS# and signature.
