You won't get in trouble. The IRS doesn't even look at box 16. Box 16 is only for the state. And you're not filing a state tax return because Tennessee has no state income tax. So no one cares what's in box 16. Your employer shouldn't have put anything there.
My employer was the government, why would they get anything right.
Did you ever leave box 15 and 16 empty I'm having the same issue
If you are in a state without state income tax, you can leave boxes 15- 20 blank. If you already entered something, you can delete the W-2 and re-enter it.
You can delete the W-2 by going to the income summary screen and clicking the trash can next to the W2. Then click Add a W-2. I am not sure if you manually entered or imported it, but if you imported, then try to enter it manually. Just do not enter anything from boxes 15 on.
