What is the definition of a principal residence? I moved halfway through the year (July). Can I count my new home as my principal residence?

I think I got it. In the section on property taxes, TurboTax asked if Illinois was my principal residence in 2019. Thanks!

Your principal residence is the home you return to when you have been "away".

That determines your domicile.
