TT Friends -
I filed my federal tax electronically but am planning to mail my North Carolina state tax in order to save the $25 e-file fee. I did this last year and it all went well. I can't remember if I had to submit any supporting 1099s (INT, DIV, etc.) The TT instructions said to only include 1099s, etc. "that show North Carolina tax withheld." I had no tax withheld. Do they get this income information elsewhere so no need for me to send hard copies? Thanks!
Bob

When mailing your North Carolina return, send:
- your complete North Carolina tax return (all forms and schedules that support amounts claimed on the return attached)
- a copy of your federal return (pages 1-2)
- W-2 or 1099 forms that show NC withholding (the state will verify the income from your federal return)
- 1099-R if you claimed the retirement income deduction
