Hello
I lived & wored in Michigan 2024, employer incorrectly had me listed also in Kentucky for a few months on W4 until I asked them to correct it. They gave me a small refund via payroll & now I get W2 and KY listed, with an amt in Box 16, yet box 17 reads "0".
I already filed Turbo tax list3d everything in Michigan, did not file in KY. Do I have to amend? I demanded my employer give me corrected W2 as KY should not even have been listed at all.
Since employer gave me back extra money in paycheck for error, how do I handle this when KY & an amt is still listed on W2? Or do I keep as is since nothing listed in box 17.

You are fine.
Nothing in box 17 for KY means that no KY tax was withheld (as the employer has paid you back). You don't need to amend and don't need to file a KY tax return.
Hi Mi h thanks to clarify, if Box #16 from KY has $500, then I still dont report KY non resident?
One last thing please. I had 2 part time jobs and the one transferred over to my Michigan return & the other job which wrongly listed KY on W2, but also lists Michigan is not on my MI Schedule W. Should I amend MI return to include this job that Turbo Tax did not carry over & also add the $500 to the existing MI Box 16 total? Thanks
If the missing income from your part-time job was income earned in Michigan and it was not reported on your Michigan return and you exceed your Michigan allowance, you will need to amend your return to include the missing income. Box 16 on the W-2 shows the amount your employer paid you that is subject to state tax. This amount could differ from box 1 and should be enter in the W-2 entry field. You are required to file a Michigan return if you filed a federal return and your total Michigan income exceeds your Michigan allowance for 2024.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
