TX based worker wanting to work remote from New York for 1 month

Hi,

If I work remote from / am based in Texas (no state income tax) and want to live in New York for 2-4 weeks over summer, do I have to file a NY tax return? What's the threshold before I have to consider reporting that I worked there?

Working remote there would be for fun, not necessarily business related.

Best,
Scott

You would not have to file a New York income tax return if you are temporarily in the state and are not working for a New York company.

New York says, "If you do not meet the requirements to be a resident, you may still owe New York tax as a nonresident if you have income from New York sources." Income from a Texas-based company with no connect to NY earned by a nonresident temporarily in NY would not be NY source income.
