I purchased the turbotax delux federal + e-file + state electronic download from bestbuy, the same way I did last year. However this year the software is trying to charge me for state filing, which was advertised as free on the product title I purchased. Anyone else having this issue? I've tried calling in several times but the robot/AI answering service says it doesn't recognize my account information (hasn't changed in years) and when I called in I was hung up on during a coughing fit I had. I'm assuming it was a hang up because my phone number was verified at the beginning of the call for call back, and I was not contacted again. I tried chatting online and have similar issues with the AI system there - always refers me back to the community answered questions and I can't find any answers here. $25 isn't the end of the world, but I don't want to pay twice for a single service... Any help is sincerely appreciated!!!

E-filing fee in desktop software
Did you purchase desktop software with state software included? They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose. And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state. There is an extra fee to e-file the state. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.
Thanks for replying! The download I bought from Bestbuy say, "Turbotax Deluxe Federal + e-file + state," which leads me to believe that those fees are included in the price of the software... Does that sound right?
Read the fine print. It tells you that e-filing the state is extra. It has been that way for many years.
