Where is nontaxable social security income for alabama?

Neither taxable nor non-taxable Social Security appears on the Alabama return.

Social Security is not taxable in Alabama. Since Social Security is entered uniquely on the federal return, TurboTax is able to prevent it from going to the Alabama return. Indeed, Alabama does not even have a line for this on its return.

The response does not address the actual question I had.  Social Security is not taxable  for Alabama. BUT there is a requirement on page 2 of form 40 part iv to report DIFFERENCES between federal and state income.  So while it is not included in the taxable income computations, it is included on the return.  Fortunately a customer service rep patiently work with me to find out where to enter thee information under part iv of form 40 in the state portion of turbotax.

It would have helped if you had told me WHY you wanted to know. Most taxpayers want to know where their SS is deducted on their Alabama return. It would have helped immensely had you mentioned "Part IV".

As you can imagine, answering these questions involves a lot of guessing what taxpayers are actually asking, and sometimes we guess wrong.
