Why is CA 540NR line 14 not carrying over Schedule CA (540NR) line 37 column B? Why is the figure on 540NR, line 16 not the same as Schedule CA (540NR) column C line 37?

When I override and enter the figures for Form 540NR, lines 14 and 16 from the proper column in Schedule CA(540)NR, it is not properly doing the math and recalculating the tax.

That happens when either or both Schedule CA or CA(540NR) line 37 columns B and/or C are negative numbers. Forms 540 & 540NR are showing lines 14 & 16 as the FTB instructs - if column B is a negative number it goes to 540/540NR line 16. Same for column C, it goes to 540/540NR line 14 if it's a negative. DO NOT OVERRIDE ANYTHING there or the FTB may reject your return.
