State Taxes For A State I Did Not Live Or Work In During 2024

My family and I moved to another state in 2023. My daughter moved for college, and my wife got a new job in a city nearby, and they both moved there in September 2023. I stayed in our old state to finish out the year with my job and get our house sold. I moved to the new state at the end of 2023, just before Christmas.

Due to the way the pay period and my last day of work happened, I received my last paycheck in January 2024. I also have my W-2 for this. I did not live or work in the old state in 2024. I only received the last paycheck (and the W-2 for that paycheck) that paid me for the work at the end of December 2023.

Should I file taxes for 2024 for the old state I did not live or work in during 2024 because I got paid for 2023 work in 2024?

(Our 2023 taxes are fine and long-since filed. This question does not pertain to our 2023 taxes that I know of.)

Yes, file a non-resident state return for that small W-2.
