State tax return

I bought the 2019 Tubotax Premier federal and state software from Costco.  The software said that one state was included.  When I came to file, the software wants me to pay for the state return.  This does not seem right.  Please help me understand why it is asking me to pay.  Thank you

The fee is for e-filing the state return.

you can always mail in the state to avoid the fee.

You get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is 19.99 to efile, usually goes up to 24.99 March 1. Or you can print and mail state for free.
