To delete a state tax return, follow these directions:
@JamesG1 I don't have the option for delete. All I have are Edit or Start Over. I tried calling but they keep telling me to pay the $30 upgrade fee to just talk to a human being which is really annoying.
If you don't see the option to delete your state (you'll probably see Edit instead), you've already paid your TurboTax fees (including the state fee) or registered your free version while the state was on your return. If you've done either of these things, you can't delete your state return.
Since deleting your state return is not an option, you are left with the following options:
Use the link above for instructions if you qualify and are interested. You can't sign in from TurboTax.com; the Free File program has its own website that you have to use to access the program.

I've been using turbotax for the last 6 years so I don't really want to create a new account. Also I'm not eligible to use that free file either. I'm considering just letting my NY nonresident form just go through, it's 0 income and 0 taxes since they fixed it on my w2-c anyways so it's not like I owe them anything and I'm guessing they'll just disregard it anyways (or contact my employer who will tell them the situation). Or does anyone know why it would be a bad idea to send in a state form that shows 0 income from that state and 0 taxes paid?
You may have an option to file the state form by mail when you check out, if so choose that option and just don't mail it.
Also, you can choose to mail all of your forms and simply not mail the state return.
