You must be doing a second state return and needing your MD tax liability. I will give you the steps below.

Two things:

1.Prepare your non-resident MD and any other return first. This creates your tax liability.

THEN prepare your resident state return and it will generate a credit for your income already being taxed. The credit will be the lower of the state tax liabilities on the same income. You may owe your resident state.

2.To locate your tax liability for MD

Log into your return

Select state taxes

Enter the MD  for which you need the liability

On the left, go to Tax Tools

Select Tools

Select View Tax Summary

You will see Summary of your MD Return at the top.

Locate the line that says Total Tax

Write that number down.

Return to your resident "state 2" return and enter that number where it asks for the liability for "state 1".
