My problem was finally resolved, thanks to Lynn S. at TT tech support. But it was still not a simple process and it took way too long.
@AmyC I did contact TT tech support a couple weeks ago and, after more than 30 minutes on the phone with your tech rep, we were still unable to resolve it. It was decided to wait and see if problem goes away with a future update of TT.
It didn't.
So after 10 days and several update attempts later, I uninstalled TT and started over from scratch. Only this time, instead of installing from my CD (where the version was likely months old), I downloaded the latest version from Intuit - just to make sure I got the latest version of TT Premium. I then unhappily reentered all my federal data too.
This time, I didn't even get as far and I encountered a different problem with my Nebraska state return right at the beginning of entering data in my state return 😠.
It would go into a loop, fetching the Nebraska forms, telling me Nebraska was updated but it would not let me enter any State data at all. Trying again would end up with the same results. And when I went to Remove Nebraska, it was not listed. If I started to enter state data again, it would claim it was updated, then not let me enter data. It kept looping there.
So I contacted Tech Support again and this time, got Lynn S. She first sent me Glance, a remote access program so she could see what was going on. I don't like granting anyone remote access to my computer but since I contacted them, I granted it. She verified the problem.
She then sent me a special program to fix the looping problem. The fact she had this special program suggests to me, this is a common problem. Once I ran that, it no longer looped.
Then she sent out Nebraska's whole state program and I had to manually install it. Then it let me enter my state data but I did not know if it would let me complete my return. I was afraid I would get stuck on the "Nebraska form 1040N not ready" problem again. Lynn stayed on the phone while I re-entered all my Nebraska information. This time it worked!!! 🙂
So kudos to Lynn S. But I am not happy I had to go through all this. The 1040N bug should not have been there in the first place. And once it was reported weeks ago, it should have been fixed in future versions of TT.
My issue should have been resolved with my first contact with TT Tech support. And then I should not have had to manually install Nebraska - especially after totally uninstalling TT and starting over with the most current version of TT Premium.
Note I've been using TT with Nebraska for more than 10 years and never had this issue. I've been working with computers as an IT tech for decades. This was not some newbie ignorance thing on my side.
So yes, I am glad it has been resolved. I am very grateful to LynnS for helping. But not sure I will be sticking with TT next year.
As for Amy's request to mark posts with Thanks and Best Answer, I can't. I didn't get the help I needed from this site. And none of the answers provided worked.
I'm going with your instinct and not letting anyone on my computer remotely. That's just crazy. I did finally get this to work after reading all the threads on this. Maybe this will help someone else. All I did was copy my tax file to another computer and reinstall Turbo Tax there. Then it would let me e-file my return. I then copied my tax file back to the original computer and all was good. It's crazy stupid but it's way better than allowing anyone on my computer to fix their own issue.
I will agree that perhaps next year a better solution is in the works. Leaving me hanging like this is not acceptable.
It isn't a problem with Turbo Tax. I filed with H & R block and this happened, so I tried to file with Turbo Tax, just to see if it would go thru, but Turbo Tax was a few dollars less than H & R block, so I'm rechecking these all manually. Not sure if either is trustworthy at this point.

Assuming you are referring to a Nebraska state tax return -
The forms and schedules on a Nebraska state tax return for tax year 2022 are estimated to be finalized and available in TurboTax for e-filing on 01/26/2023
Use this TurboTax website for Federal and State forms availability - https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
Note that ksharig777 is replying to a 2-year old thread for 2020 problem I did NOT experience in 2021.
