If your state tax paid is shown on your W-2:

  • Enter W-2 in the search box
  • Then select 'go to w-2'
  •  'Edit' the W-2 the tax is reported on to make sure the tax is reported in Box 19 of the W-2.

If you paid State estimated Taxes:

Select 'Deductions and Credits'

then select 'Estimates and Other Taxes Paid'

Then select 'Estimated Tax Payments'

Check to see if your estimated payments are shown.

State tax withheld is in box 17 of the W-2. Be sure you entered it that way, at the W-2 screen. There must be an amount in box 16, even if it's 0 (box 16 can't be blank). Box 15, on the same line, must have the state postal code for the state that the withholding was taken out for.
