I am having the same issue! Filed on 4/11 with scheduled federal and MO payments on 4/15. Fed payment went through on 4/15 as expected but no MO payment yet. Hoping it goes through soon but have a call schedule with MO DOR next Monday to make sure we are all square!
My payment was deducted, all is well. Glad I found this thread, I was so close to paying twice!
To close the loop on my reply, payment was deducted today from my account specified when filing with TurboTax!
I also scheduled my payment to be withdrawn on 4/15, and here we are on 4/19 with no payment withdrawn. Now the state is showing I owe a nonpayment penalty and interest. I am NOT happy AT ALL.
I'm in the same boat but think the state may have processed the return but not the payment yet. I still think if you approved the payment for 4/15 and your return was accepted (aka postmarked) by then that it should still get there "on time". I'll give it a few more days to post before I start to panic. IRS just posted today and I had that approved for 4/15 as well (granted thet is also when I filed)
This is the thread I've been looking for. Thank goodness!
I set up my Missouri payment to come out via Turbo Tax on 4/17, and it still hasn't come out of my account as of 4/21. When I look up on the Missouri Return Tracker, it says my return has been validated, processed, and completed. Should I remain patient to avoid double payment? The Mo Tracker is also showing a late fee :(
My bank account now shows that the payment was taken out on 4/20 (it was scheduled on 4/15), but the Missouri tracker still shows that it hasn't been received and that I owe non-payment penalty + interest. Missouri needs to get their act together.
@arat18 I would not submit another payment. This is the state of MO's issue and they will have to make it right.
I paid electronically when I filed Missouri. It has been a week now. Nothing has come out of my bank yet. Just checked Missouri it shows the amount I owed paid as an underpayment and then shows a penalty for late payment and interest after 1 week.
I'm scare to pay again because I owed a lot. I can't afford to have a double payment.
This is clearly a problem with Turbotax. I plan on pursuing this unless my late fees and penalties are taken care of. Clearly they have an issue with filing State of Missouri taxes.
I now am on hold with State and Turbotax same time simultaneously.
This seems like a class action suit.
BSapp3216 I'm in the exact same situation (except for being on hold with the state and TT) so please post back here if you find something out. I E-Filed on 4/15 and authorized the payment on the form for the same date. Return was processed on 4/18 and shows I owe the indicated amount + additional penalty and interest. I assume they are just behind processing the payment part and hope that it will update soon, as some have indicated here, but please let us know what you find out!
I am on the phone with Turbotax now.
I also work at a law firm and am asking for the legal department.
I will explore a possible class action suit.
To add a data point to the conversation... I did not file with TurboTax this year. I used another service, lets call it "TaxTax." I could not find any conversation about this issue regarding "TaxTax", so I was thankful to find this forum. "TaxTax" also offered for me to pay Missouri tax via direct debit. I scheduled it for 4/15/22. The return was accepted immediately. But as of 4/22/22, the funds have not been deducted from my account, and the MO Tax site has not received payment, and is tacking on late fees. I cannot confirm that "TaxTax" is not to blame, but the common thread is the Missouri Dept. of Revenue, which is probably the bottleneck. I'm glad to see there are others who have had the same issue, and that EVENTUALLY the funds were paid.
Nice job, MODOR, for making it faster to send a paper check via snail mail, than to use an electronic debit!
EDIT 4/25/22 -- Funds have been now been debited -- 10 DAYS after scheduled. Or on the 7th business day after scheduled. MODOR site still shows taxes unpaid, taxes and late fees still due... I expect that will update soon...stand by...
EDIT 5/11/22 -- I've been checking for changes almost daily and FINALLY -- 26 DAYS later -- the page now simply shows "Your return has been accepted as filed." -- no mention of being late, or of payment, late fees, or interest being due. It sure would be nice if it now said my payment of $xxx has been processed and amount due is $0. Have to assume that no news is good news. Speed (and clarity) of government indeed!
The bar is set very low, maybe next year will be better.
Closing out my inputs to this string... As previously reported, I e-filed on the 4/15 with a debit authorization on the same day. Payment finally posted to my account on 4/25 and the online return status on the MO tracker website finally updated to from delinquent w/ penalties, interest and fines to "Your return has been accepted as filed" on 5/6. So, the system worked... slowly... at the speed of government... but it worked.
Glad I found this thread. But still wishing I had just mailed in my payment.
Normally, I just mail a check in to the state (I always owe a few hundred bucks to Missouri). However, this year, I was given the option to make the payment electronically. But, I'm seeing the same issues that people had LAST year (telling me that I still needed to send in the voucher, etc.).
I don't see anywhere (on my Missouri return) where it shows a routing number or bank account number, for payment of Missouri taxes. However, I KNOW I entered this information. Now, I'm stuck in the pattern of checking my bank account (every few days) to see if the money has been debited.
Seeing stories from last year, of people saying it takes over a month for payment to be processed, is not helping me. I definitely don't want to send in a check NOW, with the fear of being double-charged. Really wishing I had just sent a check through snail mail.
