You can get an automatic 6-month extension (to October 15, 2020) of time to file your North Carolina tax return by filling out and mailing Form D-410.

You can complete the NC extension form in the "Other situations" section in your NC state interview.  

1. Click "State" in the left hand menu
2. Click "Your State State returns" at the top of your screen
3. Click "Continue"  NC
4. Click "Edit" "Other Situations"
5. Click "Start"  "File an Extension"
6. Follow the prompts
