When you put the amount in the misc. income section, your tax goes up and your refund drops. After you enter the negative entry, the tax goes down and the refund goes up. If you enter a positive and negative for the same amount, there will no effect on your tax return. @jenniedk19
You can check Schedule 1 to be sure no additional income/deduction is being reported.
What do I select when asked what the income is from?
Was this reported on 1099-MISC?
If yes, be sure to select that it was not like your job or work, not for an intent to earn money and only received that one tax year.
