I own a home for the full year in New Jersey. I moved out of my home and rented an apartment in NJ to be closer to my job. However, I also rented out my home half of the year. Do I get the NJ Renters credit and/or the deduction from my property tax. I am using itemized deduction. Thank you.

Yes. You will qualify for the New Jersey Homestead Rebate and Property Tax Deduction for the time your house was your residence and for the time you lived in an apartment.
Select I was both a homeowner and renter in TurboTax. Enter your rental and home ownership information. If you lived in multiple residences during the year, the total number of days in all residences cannot be more than 365.
Homeowners and tenants who pay property taxes on a primary residence (main home) in New Jersey, either directly or through rent, may qualify for either a deduction or a refundable credit when filing an Income Tax return.
The property tax deduction reduces your taxable income. You can deduct your property taxes paid or $15,000, whichever is less. For Tax Years 2017 and earlier, the maximum deduction was $10,000. For tenants, 18% of rent paid during the year is considered property taxes paid. Keep in mind that the amount of property taxes paid that you can deduct depends on a number of factors, such as the number of owners or units.
