Very true! Maybe at some point TT will get embarrassed enough to fix the issue rather than just giving people inaccurate into.

No, there is actually an answer but I, as I presume several others, do not post it on this board because it involves editing the registry (at least for the Windows versions of TurboTax), which could cause more issues than it resolves.
Well - others have mentioned they have found and implemented some Registry changes, along with the deleting of subdirs - and the un-wanted State Program software still gets installed.
if you privately send me the overall Key/Value changes that need to be made to the Registry -
along with the subdirs that need to be deleted....
I will give it a test -
here is one Registry tidbit mentioned in another thread.....
they also mentioned how the State installers are kept in separate subdirs -
Here is the suggested Registry info - DANGER - YMMV -
For TurboTax, here: Registry Edit - REGEDIT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit\TYxx\PREFILLPERSTATES (xx--> is the year)
Assume that for TurboTax 2022 those state flags will be in TY22 directory path instead.
Under each key you'll find a separate name-value pair for each state,
just delete the one relating to the state that you don't want re-installed.
As long as there is no reference to that state in your return,
the flag won't be re-written into the registry and the state module will stay uninstalled!
How do I delete a state return so I can start over?
@Alvin85 Online delete State or start state over

To remove a state return (not the state program) for TurboTax desktop (CD/Download) click "File" in the upper left hand corner and select "Remove State Return". Here is a link for assistance as well.
