It depends. You just mentioned that you had other state income. You must file the non-resident income tax return first, then the resident income tax return. You may also delete CT form and add it back Toi delete the Ct:

I got this error last year and had to paper-file. I have it again this year!!!!! Someone should fix this error. I am so frustrated. I wasted hours on this last year.
Please try the suggestion above to delete the state file and re-add it back. You can also follow the steps in our Help Article as well.

Hi,
Thanks for responding. After 1.5 hours on the helpline with a nice person trying to help. I gave up and paper filed my state today. The help person was unable to delete my state return and must not have known about the article you reference. Yes, I had paid my fee, so I needed to do the "start over" method. We tried multiple other things and ended with her sending me 4972 instructions, which do not apply to me. Personally, I have no idea why deleting and starting again would help. Doesn't make sense to me.
Here's what I wish:
1. I wish there was a bypass option to allow me to e-file with an error. I can paper file with an error, so why not e-file. My refund is going to be delayed now.
2. I wish there was a way to disconnect with prior year data about old forms, but bring in everything else to start. Or, only bring in federal and no state. Perhaps there is something from a few years again that I entered incorrectly and it is confusing TurboTax and being brought forward every year. I've used TurboTax for probably 20 years or more. I fear next year seeing this same error for the third year in a row.
3. l wish a software developer would look into this problem. 4972 does not apply to me and is not presented to me. Yet, the 1040 is requiring something from a non-existent 4972 form. Catch-22.
Thanks for listening.
