Hi, In the State filing section of the software it indicates I had a Connecticut Estimated Tax Payment of $938 when I didn't make any estimated tax payment for the 2021 tax year. When I check the "Edit" box, it tells me I have to go back to the Federal form and make my edits there. When I do that, I go to Deductions and Credits --> Estimates and Other Taxes Paid --> Estimates --> Estimated Tax Payments --> State Estimated Tax Payments, and then I answer the question "Did you pay state estimated taxes for 2021" with a "No." Yet it still comes up as $938 in the State section of the software. I feel something isn't working correctly here because I have no idea where that $938 number in the State section of the software is coming from. Please advise. Thanks.

One other thought....IF you are using the Desktop software.
Open your tax return that you are preparing now.
The switch to Forms Mode, and look at the Federal Tax Payments worksheet.
The source of the $938 should become more evident on that worksheet.

You can also see that worksheet in the Online software, but you have to use the Print Center, and make the selection to create a PDF with all the forms and worksheets...then look in the PDF. BUT, if you have not done so already, you will have to pay for the software before it will let you make a PDF copy.
Did you get a state refund last year? Maybe you applied part of it to this year? One thing that could have happened is when you entered the 1099G for the state refund you checked the box that asks if you applied part or all of it.
Thanks for the timely response. No, I pocketed all of my 2020 refund I had none applied to 2021. Other thoughts?
Did you look and see if it applied it from your refund?
Federal on left
Deductions and Credits at top
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Revisit
Next page scroll down to 2020 Refund Applied to 2021
I can't think of anything else it could be from.

Yes, I was able to go into the "Forms" section and fix it directly without any issues. I am not sure why it wasn't more evident how to fix it in the top level user interface. Thanks.
