pa tax credit for Delaware Tax

I recevied a W2 for a deferred comensation distribution.  My work location was Delaware and I was a resident of PA.  The total amount shows in Box 1 and in box 11 with and additional note in Box 11 of Nonqualified plans.  The state amounts in Box 16 are split between PA and DE.  When I complete the Delaware tax form the DE amount show as other income.   In the PA tax credit the box to enter my amount is grayed out, so the tax credit is 0.

Should I put the DE amount in the wages and compensation box instead of other, so I can enter my amount and have it calculate a credit?  In all previous years my DE income /taxes resulted in a PA credit.  When looking through PA tax documents.  When I look at the PA.GOV schedule G/L, it doesn't have an other income line, and the PA documentation does not seem to reference any form of income that is excluded

"Use PA Schedule G-L to calculate and report the amount of
resident credit claimed for income tax, wage tax or other tax
(measured by gross or net earned or unearned income) paid
to another state when the other state imposes its tax on income
also subject to PA personal income tax in the same taxable
year"

Also the TT note on the other income amount mentions a 457 Distribution.  This seems to be a plan for DE state employees, and my plan was through my private company employeer

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to  help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account,

- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

- click okay and you'll get another message with a token

If you're using TurboTax Desktop:

  • Click on Online in the top menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
  • Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
  • Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
  • We can then review your exact scenario for a solution

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all other states, if any, that are included on the return.

Thank you for sending your token so I can get a better understanding of the issue.

Distributions from a nonqualified retirement plan are included in gross compensation for PA purposes. On the income allocation screen, you can enter the distribution amount that's included on the DE return in the Gross Compensation line under both columns.
