NYS Tax Payment - Direct Debit

NYS rejected efiling because federal rejected efiling. Could not resolve issue with Federal, so opted to print and mail returns. Opted to have NYS Tax withdrawn via direct debit on 4/17; however, no withdrawal has been made and payment is now late. Why has the payment not been withdrawn per request in TurboTax?

NYS Tax Payment - Direct Debit

If you did not e-file the state return then nothing about the direct debit was transmitted to the state.  You should have paid on the state site, or you could have mailed a check or money order with your mailed tax return.  You can still do so, but your payment is now late.

If you did not e-file, then your debit request was only submitted on the paper return.  Print a copy of your It-201 form and look at lines 80-84.  If your payment information appears there, then NY will debit your account when the process the tax return.  The payment won't be considered late as long as you mailed the return before April 18.  If the payment information is not on your tax return, then you can make a payment now online
