Your program states that I cannot file my New York State taxes electronically because I am claiming a energy carry over credit. But, I am not claiming that credit. What to do???

This may have been carried over from a previous year. Check your list of forms in your NY State return to see if you have a IT-255 form. if you do, try deleting it.
Dave,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did have a IT 255 form listed and I did delete it. However it didn't work. The program still won't allow me to file electronically. Is there something else I can try?
Gerald
Yes there is something else you can try. Go to State and select edit next to New York. You should reach the page that says you Just Finished Your New York Return select go over New York again.
When you arrive her, see if there is a credit that is being carryover from last year. Try to remove it from return in this section.
I did what you suggested. There was no entry in the unused solar energy credit carryover box. Issue still unresolved. What can I try next??
The program clearly thinks the issue is still there. When you delete the form, does it come back again? You might need to switch to the desktop version to get through this. You can download your .tax file so nothing is lost. Troubleshooting can then be done. If you need help, you can contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you.
