I moved to NY in March 2020 for my job and have been living in NY ever since. I was in WA before that. I however did not earn any income in WA. My job in NY is the first job I have had in the US.
Do I file my state taxes as a Resident or a non resident? What else am I required to do?
Thanks

You would only be required to file a part-year resident return for New York (IT-203) from the period of March through December 31, 2020. Since Washington has no state income tax, there is no income tax return you would need to file for that state.
The first thing you want to do is make sure you've filled out the Personal Info section correctly:
Next, you will have to add your New York return.
