My spouse works in NJ but we live in NY. We are getting the comment that the TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by other state. We filled out all the information correctly and we are still getting this message and cannot complete our filing. Thank you for your help!

Who is listed first on your tax return? TP means taxpayer, the first name on the return.
If your spouse is listed second, it sounds like you are trying to claim a credit for NY tax paid by TP (you) on the NY return. However, the TP (you) would have no NJ tax if you lived and worked in NY.
Check your entries in the Other State tax credit screen.
@ErnieS0 Thank you for your reply.
We are married filing jointly and my name is first. However, I am only claiming the income and taxes as outlined on my spouses W2 for NJ. We live in NY and I work in NY.
I removed my state returns and started over with NY and then did NJ.
Now I do not get the TP cannot be higher than tax comment. However it says for the IT-112-R (NJ) "This form has not been approved for release at this time. You must obtain an update before you file your return in order to ensure that all the calculations are correct. To receive an update, select Check for Updates from the Online menu to connect to our website".
I don't understand if there will actually be an updated form at some point or if this a bug since all the numbers were the same previously, but I got a different error.
Thank you!
IT-112-R is not ready. The target date is Feb. 9. Since the form was not ready, it's possible you were getting the original error because the form was still a work in progress.
I did not see your original error so I can't tell you whether that was wrong or right.
Once IT-112-R is ready, you can run State Review again.
Okay, Thanks
I am trying to file my sons tax returns. He lives in NY and works in NJ. Form NY IT-112-R is saying TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by other state. I have not changed any numbers on either return. Should I change the number and if so where do I find the correct amount?
It is possible this is due to the form not being available until tomorrow, February 9. Check again late tomorrow to see if you get the error again and if so, check back here and someone will try to assist you.
It's still not ready on my Macbook downloaded turbotax 2022, today is Feb 10. When will the form be ready?
The form is ready. Please see this Help Article for information and access to the “tool” that shows the availability of forms.
You will want to make sure your software is up to date. Please see this Help Article for instructions.
