I prepared to e-file my fed and NC state taxes, paid the $25 for the state, and then got a message to check my W-2. It was accurate. After several runarounds and loops, I finally got a message saying that if my state tax withholding was more than 50% of my pay, I could not e-file. But this message came AFTER several screens indicating that I could e-file. It felt like an add-on at the last minute. Clearly TT knew the percents of my W-2 at the beginning of the process, and a pop-up could have told me that if my state tax withholding was more than 50% of my pay, e-filing my state return wasn't possible. So you need to display this message earlier in the process. HOW DO I GET MY $25 BACK from TurboTax for this poorly designed software???? When I've called customer service for other issues, they are clueless, so a waste of my time.

For others to know, thanks to your Facebook staff, I have found out the way to request a refund for the e-file fee. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/how-do-i-request-a-refund-for-my-turbotax-product/...
TurboTax prepared the tax return and that is probably the fee for that. However, if you feel you are owed a refund, you may contact customer support. Go through your tax software to contact support.
Cynthiad66, your assumption is incorrect. I paid $50 for the software and another $25 to e-file my state return. The $25 is what I am trying to recover, because I could not e-file my state return.
