NJ Poll Worker Income subject to Federal Tax but not NJ Tax - How to exclude from NJ Income?

I received income from working as a poll worker in New Jersey and was issued a W2.

This income is subject to Federal income tax but is exempt from New Jersey income tax.

How do I exclude these wages from my NJ State return. My total wages carry over from my Federal return and I don't see a way to adjust them.

NJ Poll Worker Income subject to Federal Tax but not NJ Tax - How to exclude from NJ Income?

Follow these steps:

  1. Go back to the federal income section where you entered your W2 as a poll worker.
  2. Edit the w2
  3. Enter zero in the state wages box.
  4. The other state boxes need to be filled in.

This has solved the problem for others in the past.

Another trick is to enter NJ state return, income section, enter the poll income and make it negative.
