I recently moved to Maine from New Jersey in October.
I will be paper filing my Maine state return. I see Tubro Tax printed my Federal 1040 that I need to send in with my Maine return as I was a part year resident.
Do I need to include the W2s from New Jersey with my Maine State return or just employment in Maine.
thank you for your help!
Matt
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Include just your W-2s from with income and/or withholding. Maine says "Enclose (do not staple or tape) supporting W-2, 1099 and 1099ME forms. Unless the 1099 form is required as supporting documentation for another schedule or worksheet, send 1099 forms only if there is State of Maine income tax withheld shown on them."
1040ME General Instructions (PDF)
Thank you,
So only from jobs in Maine where I paid Maine State Income Tax?
Matt
Yes, send any forms with Maine withholding on them - any W-2 or 1099 with ME withholding should be included in your mailed documents to the state of Maine. Any forms that only reference your NJ income and NJ withholdings do not need to be included.
