I am starting a job in SC but will continue to live in NC.  Will I end up paying more taxes?

You will complete a non resident return for SC but NC will give you credit for the tax you pay to SC.

You will complete a non resident return for SC and then NC will give you a credit for the lesser of a) what your SC tax liability is or b) what the tax on that SC earning would have been had it been earned in NC.

you will not pay tax on the same dollar twice.

Q. Will I end up paying more taxes?

A.  Probably, but just a little.

SC has  a progressive income tax, the graduated state individual income tax ranges from 0.00% to 6.3%.  North Carolina has a flat individual income tax rate of 4.50%.  The SC 6.3% rate starts at $17,330 taxable income.

NC will not give you a full credit for all the tax you pay to SC.  The credit is limited to the amount of NC tax on the same income.
