Here is the situation:
A person has permanent home address in Nebraska, where he grew up and lived with his parents until attending college in 2020. His parents still live in Nebraska. He only has short visits to Nebraska since he left for college in a different state.
He went to attend the college in Michigan and lived there until June of 2024. In the 2024 calendar year, he lived in Michigan from January to June.
In June of 2024 he went back to Nebraska and lived with his parents there for over a month.
In the middle of July, he relocated to New Jersey and lived there for the rest of 2024.
While living in New Jersey in 2024, he commuted every work day to work in New York city, where his employer and his office is located.
How should he file the state tax returns for 2024?
Thank you!

Just to add, while living in Michigan in 2024, he was a full-time student.
Also, while living in New Jersey in 2024, he as a full-time employee that worked in New York city.
@hachii if you had no income prior to moving to NJ, there is nothing to file in Michigan and Nebraska.
You'll file a NY (and NYC) non-resident income tax and a NJ residential income tax form. It'll be part-year.
