My wife and I filed a joint Maryland tax return and TurboTax keeps saying we are due a $1200 deduction due to the married couple two earner income. income SS & Interest

my wife's income comes from Social Security and interest from savings accounts, not from wages, pension or business, why does it still give the deduction to us?

Married couples filing a joint return, when both have taxable income, may subtract up to $1,200 or the income of the spouse with the lower income, whichever is less.

Her interest income counts towards  the Two Income married Couple deduction.
