Moved to Yonkers from NYC. Form IT-360 is impossible to fill correctly, bc TT autofills the NYC % of income to match the Yonkers % of annual income when SAME employer. !

I need to report that 4 percent of my income (earned in NYC) was earned WHILE living in Yonkers. The software auto-erases my previous entry specifying that I earned 96 percent of the income in NYC so that it under-reports my income in NYC (nearly erasing NYC tax owed). Considering manually filling IT-360 "Change of Resident Status" form because after hours of investigation have not figured out how to correctly allocate my percentage of income. Also my husband earned from a Yonkers source from August 31, 2022 but we didn't move to Yonkers until December 15. TT won't let me split that income into two different residency statuses.

Our Expert LenaH provided this information that should help. Once you enter the information for being a part-year resident of NYC, you should get to the Allocate Federal Adjustments to Income page in your New York state interview screens. I have attached a picture below for additional guidance.

The second column (Total Federal Adjustments) must be the same as the amount on the line shown above. In the example below, $1,813 of adjustments would have to be entered. If not, an error will populate on your return.

Then, you would be able to allocate the NYC portion of these adjustments to the time you were a NYC resident. The amounts in the third column would represent amounts that should be taxed by NYC.

If the above does not work for you then go back to the state page and click the button next to:

New York City and Yonkers info and allocations

Then in the first column simply put in the number indicated in the text, this is the entire amount.  The second column is what is actually attributed to NYC.

Based on your statement, you lived in both NYC and Yonkers in 2022.  Appears that you have both Non-resident (husband) income and part year income from Yonkers and you have NYC income.

You will need form 203 Non-Resident From August 31 to December 15) return for the time husband worked in Yonkers prior to moving there.

If you are required to file a New York State return and you were a resident of Yonkers for part of the year, you must file Form IT-360.1, Change of City Resident Status, for the part of the year you were a Yonkers resident.

Thank you so much for the detailed response.

The "Allocate Federal Adjustments" screen never comes up for me in the navigation. Please advise.
