When I efiled my 2025 taxes, the Federal was accepted but the MT taxes were rejected with the following error:" The value of Schedule II Page 2 Line 22 must equal the quotient of Schedule II Page 2 Line 21 divided by Line 20."
Line 20 is the net long term capital gains (NLTCG) from Form 2 line 2. I have a NLTCG loss on my federal so TT leaves Form 2 Line 2 as blank or zero. (And TT says it must be 0 or positive.)
Line 20 is then 0 as its value flows from Form 2 line 2. I have a positive MT NLTCG on line 21 so TT calculates line 22 as 1.000000, the max limit. To me ,this is correct (positive divided by 0 is infinite). But MT rejects it with the above error. Can some explain what I am doing incorrectly and a solution please?

I would run through the state review once more and resubmit. If it rejects again, you may have to print and mail.
I did try re-submitting it before I posted the question here and still got another rejection. After talking to someone at MT tax office, their software is not accounting for a blank or 0 on line 20. The workaround they gave me is to put $1 in line 20 (which flows from Form 2 page 2 line 2). There is still no tax due. When their software calculates a the ratio, they get a real number (as opposed to infinite or undefined) which then gets limited to 1. This then matches the 1 in line 22. This worked. My MT contact said they would address this in their software discussions/changes.
