I filed my taxes on-line on 2-3-18, through Turbo Tax Free Edition, but the refunds for FST and Homestead were vague and I was never asked for info on direct deposit. How do I find out what my status is for both?

No.
You will not receive the Homestead Exemption filing with the TurboTax Free Edition because it is rebate program for property taxes paid in Kansas. Property taxes are entered as itemized deductions on federal Schedule A, which is not included in this software. If you paid property taxes, you will need to amend to get this refund.
The food sales tax credit is no longer a refund, but a credit that will be applied if your income was less than $30,615. Without access to your tax return, I cannot confirm if you were over the income threshold, but it would appear as a credit on your return, not an additional refund.
