In prior years I am pretty sure I was asked for Charity contributions, again (even though federal asks), for Iowa State taxes. This year there is no prompt. Is there a reason why? Or am I remembering wrong? I have a co-worker who also remembered this, so I don't think I am crazy.

Starting in 2023, Iowa requires you to take the same type of deduction as you did on your federal. In the past, you could take the standard federal deduction and itemize on state. If you took the standard on federal, it is likely the software is not asking you for itemized since it is not an option because you must match the federal.
I took itemized but was not asked a question. What you are saying makes sense. Iowa also used to ask for deductions for registration of your car. This is because they do a yearly "what your car cost MSRP new" 1% charge (which is insane). Anyway, this question is also not asked.
