Intuit Ignores Customers request for refund for services not rendered.

I paid $50 to file two state returns, but their product gives error 54 upon transmission of either state return and will not transmit. An internet search shows this is common error with their 2025 product. Updating and reinstalling did nothing to fix the error. So I prepared and filed the returns myself by mail and asked for a refund since they did not provide the transmissions I paid for due to their defective product (yes you have pay first and trust they are honest). I have requested a refund for the two un-transmitted state returns three times now without any response or refund. I have waited a reasonable amount of time and I believe intuit intends to act in bad faith.

What reputable company does this? Why does Intuit continue to ignore my requests for a refund for the unused transmission credits on my account? This is no fault of mine. I paid upfront and I did not receive the promised service due to a widely experienced defect in their product, and they are just going to keep my money?

Should I file a complaint with the FTC for deceptive or unfair business practices, or the BBB for a consumer dispute record and possible legal mediation, or both?

I understand the FTC has already found Intuit engaged in deceptive advertising.

Since it is near impossible to talk to any intuit representative, and I have exhausted the avenues intuit provides,  I feel I should warn as many people as possible about this companies fraudulent and deceptive practices. Yeah its only $50, but I am retired, so I will die on this hill to prevent this from happening to others.  This shouldn't happen to anyone else ever!

For anyone reading this who feel they have been ripped off by Intuit, here is the start of my complaint you can use as a sample template;

Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Response Center, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20580

"DEAR FTC: I am filing a complaint against Intuit for bad-faith business practices and deceptive conduct. I believe Intuit misrepresented pricing, terms, or service details in a way that caused me and other consumers financial harm and emotional distress. Intuit’s conduct appears deceptive, unfair, and designed to mislead consumers about the true terms, cost, or availability of the services promised. My many continued attempts to resolve this dispute have been ignored by intuit. I am requesting an investigation into intuits illegal business practices and a refund or correction. Following is the details of my complaint..."

1)  IF you are on a windows Computer...shut TTX down and install this week's Windows updates first...and reboot.  Partially-installed Windows updates are known to cause problems with TTX operations.

2) read the following conversation...some found they had to turn off their VPN before starting up the TTX software.   For some it worked with some messing around....for others, apparently not.

Failed Validation Error 54

Thank you for your kind response.
However as I stated, the state tax forms would not transmit, and I did try various solutions from this forum and from the internet with no success. I mailed in these returns in they have been processed, and finalized some time ago.

However I paid Intuit to transmit the returns electronically and their software could not perform the promised service. Since the software failed to do what I paid Intuit for, I seek a refund for the transmission fees, as neither transmission was performed due to problems inherent in Intuits software.

 I have tried to obtain a refund through my intuit account which lists the transmissions (still unused), I paid for. There is a "request refund" for each service, yet no matter how many times I request, there is no reply what so ever. It is apparent Intuit does not intend to refund me, or offer any explanation.

Your advice is really appreciated and kind, but not applicable in resolving my complaint as stated.
Thank you very much!
