Indiana State Tax Filing

I have been using Turbotax for years and encountered a problem this year that I do not understand.  I owe $74 to the state of Indiana and when e-filing, I was asked if I wanted to have the amount withdrawn electronically from my bank account.  I said yes and was told I would be charged $25 for this service.  I agreed and paid the amount via a VISA card.  Turbotax continued on as if I still needed to send a check in and provided me with the form and instructions to do so.  I then checked my credit card account and I was still charged the $25.  I have put in a dispute with the credit card company and have now sent the check in to the state of Indiana to avoid the payment being late.  I need Turbotax to refund the $25 for the service I did not receive.  Please advise on next steps to ensure this happens.

Are you using the Online version or the Desktop program?  In the Desktop program it is $25 to efile a state return whether or owe or have a refund.  Nothing to do with paying the tax due.  Or you can print and mail state for free.  If you put your bank Account in to pay the tax due they will eventually take it out.

Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo.  If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay.  Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

VolvoGirl, Thank you for your response.  That makes total sense.  My mistake on forgetting the charge was for e-filing whether I was getting a return or owed.  Will get the check in the mail and take the hold off the charge to VISA.  Thank you SO much.
