Enter your W-2 into TurboTax exactly as it was reported on your W-2.

However, make sure that you are not reporting double the income on your state tax returns. (TurboTax usually prompts you when entering your state information if your income is being reported twice).

If for some reason the state income amount is doubling when you are working on your state income, then remove the state information related to your home state (if there are no state withholdings) on your W-2. Since you are required to report all income on your resident state income tax return, your nonresident state income should automatically be listed as income on your resident state tax return.

If you are a permanent resident of MS but you worked in KS, you will need to file a KS non-resident state income tax return (for your KS source income only - your KS wages). You will also need to file a MO resident state tax return (for all income from all sources including KS wages). You will get a state tax credit in MO for any KS state income taxes that you paid on your nonresident KS state income tax return.

You will want to work on your non-resident KS state income tax return first. You will then take a tax credit from your non-resident KS taxes on your resident MO state income tax return. (Please note that you will only get a tax credit for your KS state income taxes up to the amount of MO state income taxes that would have been paid if the income was earned in MO).

Just follow the TurboTax guide when working on your states (remembering to do your non-resident state return first) and TurboTax will do all the calculations and credits to your resident states return

Here is additional information about filing in multiple states (select "see more answer" to view the entire attachment)
