As the title states, I move to Iowa from Illinois in November 2022 and retained my same job. Turbo Tax recommends that I file taxes for both Iowa and Illinois. To complicate the matter further, my employer did not update my taxes from Illinois to Iowa until this year, so I paid Illinois taxes through the end of the year. What should I do?

You will file part-year resident state tax returns for both states that you lived in last year. When you prepare each states tax return, you will be able to allocate the income for each state. Make sure that you answer the questions in the Personal Info Section correctly regarding the states that you live in to ensure that you prepare accurate state returns. Please note, prepare the state that you moved from first (Iowa), followed by the state you live in now (Illinois).
You will not be taxed on the same income in both states. You will either get a refund from Iowa and owe IL or IL will give you a credit for the taxes paid in Iowa. Please review the TurboTax article How do I file a part-year state return? and How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?
