You do not get it all back. If you worked and earned income in AL you are subject to paying AL state income tax. But...you file a NON-resident state tax return for AL, and depending on how much was withheld, maybe you will get a refund of some of the state tax withheld. TX has no state income tax, so there is not a resident state for which AL will credit the AL tax.

As a Texas resident working in Alabama, your income is sourced in Alabama. You have to file an Alabama nonresident tax return and pay Alabama taxes. Depending of the amount of AL taxes withheld, you'll have a refund or have to pay additional AL taxes.
