You must enter the Box 16 amount on your W2 to match Box 1 and be sure it has Alabama in the dropdown for state.
Just to clarify, my W2 from the Alabama employer is good and fine.
I did, however, try to adjust and change the Florida Employer W2 and put in the difference in box 16 there. The issue, though, is that it is also requiring a State ID Number for the Employer in Florida but it is also blank, because Florida charges no income tax.
I tried leaving this blank, but TurboTax will not let me file with it being blank and the State Wages being filled out.
Try entering the box 1 amount on the W-2 from FL in box 16. This should clear the math error on the Alabama return. You can use the Federal ID number as the state ID number just to get past the error condition.
If you have determined that all of your W-2s have been entered accurately for boxes 15, 16, and 17 and the electronic filing error continues, then your only choice may be to file the Alabama state return by mail.
Thank you for the information. I will do that tonight when I am free, and I will let you guys know if it is accepted or rejected again after trying this out. Either way I appreciate the advice and information
