Thank you for your help. Believe me, it was much appreciated. 👍
Forgive me if this sounds obvious but one ein number is always said to be used for unemployment and another for state tax returns. I need to number that corresponds to my 1099g from receiving unemployment in order to file my state return. Do I use the unemployment ein or the state tax ein? This has been unbelievably difficult to understand and my return was actually rejected due to this.
Use the one for unemployment to file your 1099-G income that represents your unemployment for 2021. See below.
Our Tax Expert @KrisD15 has provided the employer identification numbers (EINs) for Illinois (IL). They are listed here for your convenience.
Are you saying that the Federal ID number should be used both in the box labeled Federal ID No. on the first page when entering the 1099-G information, as well as in box 10b where it is asking for the "State ID Number (Only if state income tax withheld)"
Hi.
Does the tax number for the state of ILL. and for my 1099g/1098g whichever change every year or does it stay the same?
Thanks
Yes, Federal ID numbers should stay the same from one year to the next as long as the payer has stayed the same.
Did you figure this out? This is the part stumping me since state tax was withheld but there's no state identification number on the 1099g.
Use the Payer's TIN, located under the Payer's name and address, in 10b if it is missing on your form, @cljo
